Default ABS module 2009 Sportage

When reconnecting the brake lines to the ABS module they thread in easily until
just before they seat, at which point they feel like they are cross threaded and
refuse to seat. There is no dirt or crud in the female threads but I did find one small thin shaving in one with a Q-tip. Any suggestions for what caused the problem, although I'm leery of trying to force them to seat, I did try to tighten one until instinct told me it was enough? I know they did not seat because when I filled the brake reservoir, I could not get rid of the air when I bled them and then I noticed fluid seeping around the fittings on the ABS module.
One line that was not disconnected appears to sit at a slight angle to the module,
do some of the lines thread in at an angle and if so is there a picture or schematic
available that shows the direction they angle or do they all thread in straight?
Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you
